Further cementing the popularity of blockchain is the recently released ’40 under 40’ list. This is a list released by Fortune, detailing the world’s most successful young talent. On this list you will find influencers from industries as broad as social media, automotive, finance, music, and of course blockchain. This year’s rankings see blockchain pioneers constitute 10% of the entire list. Below are those detailed in the 2018 version of ’40 under 40’.
Born in Russia, raised in Canada, Vitalik is the mastermind behind Ethereum. At only 23 years of age, Vitalik has helped grow his platform into a dominant force in the crypto industry. In 2014 Ethereum first became available to the public. Fast forward to 2018, and Ethereum has a marketcap of 46 billion and is believed by many to be poised to take over the #1 spot one day.

Brian is a 35 year old CEO, and co-founder, of Coinbase. Born in the United States, Brian has seen his company grow to be a major trailblazer in the industry. Coinbase has provided crypto enthusiasts with intuitive merchant features, custodial solutions, and more. In recent weeks they have been making news due to their acquisition of multiple entities that will allow for the future listing of security tokens. Coinbase is creating the blueprint, and setting precedent for other companies to follow and be successful in the world of blockchain. Brian is at the helm.

Pavel Durov has twice over built a massively successful company. He is currently the CEO and Co-founder of Telegram. A secure messaging app, Telegram made waves this past year when it hosted an ICO. Throughout the course of the crowd sale, Telegram managed to raise roughly $1.7 billion. The app currently services 200 million active users. Prior to this massively successful endeavour, though, Durov had built the website VKontakte. This was allegedly taken from him by the Kremlin (which has also banned Telegram in Russia due to ‘facilitating insurrection’)

Vlad Tenev & Baiju Bhatt
This duo (Tenev, 31 and Bhatt, 33) began their venture in 2013. Both products of Stanford University, the two created a platform to facilitate stock trades in a mobile environment. This platform is known as RobinHood. The name represents their beliefs as it would suggest. Equality – redistributing from the rich to the poor. RobinHood skyrocketed in worth when the decision was made to add multiple cryptocurrencies to their platform over the past year – beginning with Bitcoin. Users can now trade coins with zero fees, from anywhere.
